Areas of Expertise
Individual Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for Kids, Teens and Adults - I am deeply committed to my work in assisting kids, teens and adults in learning to master the four core DBT skills in order to cope with and heal from: depression, anxiety, traumatic stress and abuse, attention-deficits, impulsivity and addiction, relationship conflicts, parent-child difficulties, attachment issues, grief and loss, mood swings, borderline and bipolar disorders, and self-harm.
Mindfulness Training - I offer Mindfulness training and DBT skills coaching for kids and adults (click: DBT Therapy and Mindfulness for more information).
Couples & Relationship Counseling - I support couples in working through a broad range of crisis and intimacy issues, including emotional dysregulation and withdrawal patterns, anger and control issues, and communication "language" differences. My style is strength-based, collaborative and highly interactive.
Family DBT Skills Training & Therapy - I utilize DBT and family systems approaches to improve structural dynamics and balance of power, reduce chaos, hopelessness and hurt and increase mindfulness, trust, respect, fairness, and appreciation for each member's experience and role within the family community.
Positive Parenting Skills and Strategies - I have years of experience coaching and supporting parents on how to use more effective and satisfying techniques and strategies to increase positive behavior and success in their 569children's lives.
Methods and Approaches
Depending on the needs of my clients, I draw from a variety of clinical and therapeutic approaches of which I am intensively trained, including: Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and DBT Skills Training, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP) Gestalt and Jungian Expressive Art & Play Therapy and Family Systems..
It is my goal to encourage people to become more accepting and aware of their unique strengths as well as their limitations, and to assist clients in taking greater pride and ownership of the power and responsibility they possess to accept, direct and alter the course of their own thoughts, feelings and actions in life.
